About A New Season Counseling

A steady, judgment-free place to work through anxiety, trauma, and life’s hardest seasons — in Aiken, SC and by telehealth across South Carolina.

Our Story

A New Season Counseling was founded on a simple belief: change is possible at any stage of life, and no one should have to navigate it alone. The practice grew out of founder Kim Couch’s years as an educator working alongside students and families facing trauma, anxiety, and instability, long before she became a therapist.

Like a tree moving through its seasons, growth isn’t always visible right away. It starts underground, in small and steady changes, before it shows up as something stronger and more resilient. That’s the kind of growth we walk alongside our clients toward, one season at a time.

Hi, I’m Kim — the founder and clinical director here. Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 30 years as an educator, including years as a special educator working with students who faced trauma and significant life challenges. That experience shaped how I show up with clients today: I listen first, and I don’t rush anyone’s process.

I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Choice Theory, and Person-Centered Therapy to help people move toward the goals that matter most to them. I’m also a Christian who cares deeply about the people I work with, and I’m glad to weave a faith-informed perspective into sessions for clients who want that — though it’s never required. If you’re ready to talk, I’d love to hear from you.

Our Approach

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Identify the thought patterns driving anxiety or low mood, and build practical tools to shift them.

EMDR

A structured, research-backed method for processing trauma and distressing memories.

Choice Theory

Understand the choices within your control, even when circumstances feel out of your hands.
